Photo of a broken rear end pinion yoke. Your first thought might be that it broke because it was a strap and bolt style and not the stronger u-bolt style but that is not correct. This yoke failed because of excessive pinion angle under hard acceleration. If you look closely you will see the marks on the pinion yoke where the driveshaft yoke was hitting on every revolution of the shaft. The force of the two parts hitting each other caused the failure. The bolts did not break first. The customer installed traction bars and the problem was solved.
